Новое исследование выявило присутствие токсичных антипиренов в предметах повседневного обихода, изготовленных из переработанного черного пластика. Речь идет о таких распространенных вещах, как лотки для суши на вынос, лопатки, контейнеры для пищевых продуктов и множество других изделий. Антипирены с 1970-х годов используются как добавка в пластмассовые детали для электронных устройств. Их свойства помогают предотвратить возгорание. Но оказалось, что их невероятная стойкость имеет побочные эффекты – антипрены активно накапливаются в окружающей среде.
Особенно тревожным является тот факт, что многие из этих антипиренов известны своей высокой токсичностью и способностью к биоаккумуляции. Это означает, что они накапливаются в живых организмах с течением времени, достигая высоких концентраций, которые могут нанести серьезный ущерб здоровью.
Исследование, проведенное под руководством Меган Лю из организации Toxic-Free Future, опубликованное в журнале Chemosphere, сосредоточилось на анализе уровня остаточных антипиренов в различных товарах, изготовленных из переработанного черного пластика.
Они обнаружили, что в 10% исследованных образцов был высокий уровень содержания брома, сигнализирующий о присутствии бромированных (BFR) и органофосфорных (OPFR) антипиренов. Наиболее высокий уровень загрязнения был зафиксирован в бижутерии, особенно в детских бусах. Максимальное количество антипрена нашли в пиратском медальоне, предназначенном для детей.
Эти результаты вызывают серьезную обеспокоенность, поскольку, антипирены могут проникать в организм через пищеварительную систему, кожу и дыхательные пути. Дети, в силу особенностей своего развития и поведения (часто игрушки берут в рот), представляют особенно уязвимую группу риска. Механизмы токсического действия BFR и OPFR разнообразны и не до конца изучены. Бромированные антипирены, например, могут накапливаться в организме, нарушая работу эндокринной системы и влияя на гормональный баланс, что объясняет связь с проблемами щитовидной железы. Органофосфорные антипирены, в свою очередь, могут оказывать нейротоксическое действие, влияя на развитие нервной системы и способствуя возникновению когнитивных нарушений. Нарушение метаболизма костной ткани, проявляющееся в остеопорозе, также связывают с воздействием этих веществ.
Профессор Майкл Боксталлер, эксперт в области материаловедения и инженерии из Университета Карнеги-Меллона, комментируя результаты исследования, подчеркнул сложность оценки риска, связанного с воздействием антипиренов. Он отметил, что оценка риска зависит от множества факторов: типа химического вещества, концентрации, пути воздействия, продолжительности экспозиции и индивидуальных особенностей организма. Не существует универсального ответа на вопрос о допустимой дозе, поскольку чувствительность к этим веществам может значительно варьироваться. Более того, синергетический эффект комбинированного воздействия различных антипиренов и других токсических веществ также требует тщательного изучения.
